Syriacs are not obliged to buy their own property from the Turkish Government

A district mayor in Turkey suggested that Assyrians could repurchase properties that were formerly theirs but are now government-registered. This proposal has been met with strong disapproval, as many consider it legally and ethically problematic for original owners to buy back their own land
